The grill ceiling uses fire-treated Siberian larch
Architectural products company Hunter Douglas has created a curved wooden grill ceiling at a city centre dining hub.
The first of it’s kind in the UK, the London’s exterior solid wood radial grill ceiling was installed at Broadgate Circle, a £20m restaurant and leisure scheme next to Liverpool Street Station, designed by Arup Associates.
The 600m sq exterior grill system was installed in a series of four concentric curves and uses inspiration from continental European projects of a similar nature.
Using durable Siberian larch, which is fire-treated and fully sealed with a UV-cured varnish, Hunter Douglas’s grill system comprised slats that were 20mm wide and 80mm deep for aesthetic appeal.
